Hi! We’re Matt
& LAURELYN
We run Wish Upon a Jar, assisted by a small (but mighty!) team of employees.
And we can’t forget our two most important team members- Irwin and Draco, our official shop dogs. Irwin isn’t too social, but if Draco is in the studio you can ask to see him- he loves making new friends!
OUR story…
Wish Upon a Jar has been owned and operated by Laurelyn since the summer of 2018, but the studio had been around for a few years before that. While teaching music lessons right down the road at Clarizio Music, Laurelyn learned that her student’s mom owned Wish Upon a Jar, and they would be moving out of state and selling the business. Rather than have the studio be turned into (another) chain coffee shop, Laurelyn decided to take over the business.
Since then, we have done a complete outdoor renovation of the shop, greatly increased our product inventory, added more class and private event options, started our afterschool art club & summer camp programs, and added to-go paint projects. For 2023 we are planning an indoor renovation, and are looking forward to growing our business even more! Laurelyn continues to teach music at Clarizio Music, and we do collaborations with them as well as other local businesses in our area.

We are looking to add more members to our team as our business continues to grow. We look for employees who are friendly, outgoing, and hardworking. Artistic skill is NOT necessary- what’s more important is a positive attitude, communication skills, and the willingness to get your hands dirty. FUN
We know that you come to our studio for a good time, and we try to provide you with an experience that is both easy AND super fun! Bring the family to create some memories, stop by for a night with friends, or come solo for some relaxing art therapy. Not only will you have a great time painting, but you’ll have a lasting piece of art to remember your day by.
aCCESSIBILITY
At Wish, we believe everyone is an artist, and we want to give everyone a chance to create something awesome. We can help even the most “unartistic” person make a piece they are proud of. We also offer accommodations for painters with special needs, and we are an approved vendor through the NJ DDD.

COMMUNITY
As a small business, we care about making a positive difference in our community. We donate to local schools, animal rescues and nonprofits, and are happy to host many fundraising events and programs.
